My 100th Post!

So I'm getting a little bored with the 30 days thing, but I'm determined to finish it, even though it's probably already been 30 days.... haha! So Day 15 is about my dreams. I was thinking about the song from Cinderella:

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling thru
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true

I don't know why I thought about that, it's been probably 10 years (or longer) since I've seen Cinderella but I kind of like the lyrics. I think it's important to dream. As you read in a previous post, I decided I can't plan anymore (well, I can but I can't expect things to turn out exactly as planned), but I can definitely still dream. I have lots of dreams. Some are only semi-serious, like drive a BMW, buy a beach house, and make millions, but some are more realistic like have a family, become a successful nurse, and other things of that nature.

One of my dreams that I'm particularly fond of is after nursing school, I want to go help people in a 3rd world country. There's a pediatrician in American Fork who goes 2 or 3 times a year to different parts of the world to teach people how to resuscitate babies. Can you imagine being one of the people in those countries where the mortality rate is so high, especially in children, and be given this great knowledge? I can't imagine what a great blessing that would be. I want to be a part of that.  I want to give people the gift of medicine, and change lives.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to achieve all these dreams, but I guess that's just all part of the fun.

Day 14: What I wore today

I wore what I always wear: scrubs.
I was looking for a picture of them online and I found these:

How freakin' cute is that? Our future children will most definitely have a pair.

Day 13: this week, and thoughts on a common Frenemy

This week is probably going to be crazy! I have an Anatomy test tomorrow afternoon, and 2 lab finals on Wednesday. The reason this is going to be so crazy is because I've done what most college students do: (also what I'm doing right this moment) procrastinated... Yep. I don't know why I feel the need to leave everything until the last possible moment and settle for lower scores on tests, but I do. It's not that I really do anything worthwhile with the time anyway... I just can't seem to find the motivation. Part of it, admittedly, has to do with a particularly nasty case of seasonal affected disorder in the winter, but the sun's out now. The motivation just isn't coming...

I found a great article that appeared on MSNBC on Friday about procrastination. Go here to read it.
My favorite part is the last paragraph:

"Willpower is like a muscle. It can be strengthened to help you beat procrastination, no matter your personality.  Reaffirm your values. Remind yourself that you really do need to work out, see the doctor, sign up for your 401K. Validate that these things are important to your life, your health and wealth, and when you put them off, you aren’t living your best life."

So, with finals approaching, I urge you all to close those Facebook windows and go do some studying. I hope I can keep up! Happy studying and good luck!

Day 12: What's in my bag? And other random bits of life as of late.

If I could find my camera I would take a picture but it's buried somewhere in the mess that is our house while we're in the process of moving. In  my bag I have:
-my badge for work
-my wallet, which always seems to be empty for some reason. Hmmm...
-a tube of Aquaphor for my lips.
-About 5 pens
-Usually a granola bar, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, or other foodstuffs.
-Car keys
-A mess of receipts and papers I've randomly thrown in there.

On a different note, I went to Ian's football game this morning. I've been telling him for weeks that I'm going to come and I finally made good on my word today. It was a great game! A friend from Ian's English class invited him to be on a team with him, and they really have a great group of guys. They won by more than 20 points. Go Titans!

Team photo

That's the face he gave me when I told him to look mean...
What a dork.

We're two weeks away from the end of the semester and three weeks away from moving to Texas. It's a wonderful, stressful, bittersweet, stressful, exciting, stressful, adventurous time of life. (Oh, did I mention I'm completely stressed out??) It'll be here before we know it!!

Day 11: Siblings

I've been looking forward to this one actually. I have best siblings in my family, who truly are my very best friends. We have always been close and really hardly ever fight. It's a dream come true!

Megan:
Megan is very creative. Whether it's writing, art, poetry, or singing, Meg's amazing at it! She's got volumes of notebooks full of writing and you might want to keep an eye out because one of them will probably be in print one day. She's passionate, artistic, deep, but also just as wild and zany as the rest of us.

Pwetty Sisto.
Ian:
Oh little bud. I still call him that even though he's 6'3". Bud is just a good kid. No doubt about it. Whether it's his silly phrases (punch a baby, pwned, and jewed, just to name a few) or the way he's always treated his sisters with such love and respect. He's basically the reason Jillian got a job at Cold Stone. His managers liked him so much, they decided to hire her too. He's getting ready to graduate high school with a high GPA and getting ready for a mission in 2012.

Don't worry, he eventually figured out how to ride it...

I had to throw this one in there too. Best. Photo bomb. Ever.

Jillian:
I don't know one thing this girl isn't good at. Seriously, she makes the rest of us look a little bit pathetic. She's an artist, a dancer, a singer/songwriter, a model, a director (even if it is just for the videos filmed in her room with her friends) and a great friend and little sister.

One of my very favorite pictures of us. Love ya Jill Bill.

Day 10: What I wore

This is kind of a boring one but ok. This is what I wore yesterday:

In the morning it was a pair of Ian's basketball shorts and one of his shirts to clean in.
After that it was a black skirt with flowers on it and a grey shirt.

Hope you enjoyed that...

Day 9: Beliefs

I believe in a lot of things.
I believe in God.
I believe in prayer.
I believe I have a personal Savior who sacrificed his life for me.
I believe that people who have passed on never truly leave us.
I believe in the Book of Mormon and the Bible.
I believe in Joseph Smith. That he was who he says he was, and he saw what he said he saw.
I believe that the Lord has a prophet on the earth to guide us, and that that man is Thomas S. Monson.
I believe in the power of the human spirit, and that combined with the power of prayer and of God, anything is possible.
I believe in the miracle of modern medicine, and find myself blessed to be a small part of it.
I believe that people are generally good.
I believe that sometimes the only way to learn is to take a leap of faith.
I believe that love conquers all.

Day 8: A moment

I love my job. I won't lie, it's pretty much the best in the entire world. There is one thing I definitely do not love though, and that is shots. It makes me sad to see all those cute little babies cry. But the other day there was a three-year-old boy that came in with croup. Yep, you guessed it. I had to give him a shot. He totally knew what was up the minute I walked in. He laid on the table and started to protest. I cleaned off his leg and gave him the shot as fast as I could. He looked at me as big tears welled up in his eyes and started to spill over. Not even a second later, however, he got a really mad look on his face and blew a raspberry at me. I guess I deserved that...

Day 7: My best friends

My best friend is Ian, but I already wrote about him so I'll write about my next best friends. The 4 of us kinda clicked our sophomore year of high school, and we've been friends ever since. We've laughed, we've cried, we've belted show tunes at the top of our lungs, we've watched each other grow and learn through so much. It's great to have such great friends!

At my bridal shower in June. Love these girls.

Day 6: My Day

I got home last night and realized I hadn't blogged but I was too tired from my 12-hour work day that I didn't bother to do so. That was my day... Hope you enjoyed it.
